Dear Colleagues and Friends,

From
previous days Hungary has emerged from the slumber of a closed society and
now the country develops at a breathtaking rate. Budapest typifies this
spirit of change as a centre of renewal amidst the ancient beauty of its
many medieval palaces and churches. |
|
|
Situated astride the Danube,
the capital gives a glimpse of the diversity of Hungary from the pleasant
green of the hills of Buda to the wide flat plain of Pest. |

The Meeting will start with the
Welcome Party on Sunday 1 September at 20.00 in the City Park near the Heroes'
Square, which will be a unique introduction to the Hungarian capital. The
meeting will end on Thursday, 5 September at 13.30 with a Closing Ceremony
followed by a Farewell Wine Festival at the Budapest Fair Centre (BFC).
All registered participants and
accompanying persons are invited to the Welcome Party: "A taste of
Hungary" and the Farewell Wine Festival.
We are sure that the exciting
scientific programme together with the traditional warm Hungarian hospitality
will make this EASD Annual Meeting an unforgettable experience for all
participants.
We look forward to welcoming
you in Budapest in September 2002.
